The Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship was established to help Texas residents entering or enrolled in any college or university within the United States. The Slough Administrator reviews all applications and recommends scholarship recipients.

AMOUNT DETAILS

The Slough Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year ($2,500 per fall and spring semesters) until one of the following criteria are met: total of 5 years in higher education, the completion of a Bachelor's Degree, or a total accumulation of 136 semester hours. Smaller amounts may be awarded on a one-time basis with no guarantee of future awards.

DEADLINE
All application materials must be submitted by April 1st for the next academic year.

Changes to applications are not allowed after submission. Only one application per year is permitted.

NOTIFICATION
The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. Selected Slough recipients will be notified by August 1st.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Texas Resident
  • Graduate of a Texas High School
  • Must not have exceeded more than 112 semester college credit hours

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE APPLICANTS

  • Official high school transcript (printed after January 1st) with a GPA converted to a 100 point scale (GPA's exceeding 100 will be disqualified) Formula to use 20(GPA+1).
  • Official transcripts from any college (including dual credit)
  • Copy of official ACT/SAT scores
  • Essay addressing your financial need for the scholarship, other types of aid that you expect to receive, the major that you are pursuing, and how you plan to use your education after graduation

CURRENT COLLEGE STUDENT APPLICANTS

  • Official complete high school transcript

MAINTAINING YOUR SLOUGH SCHOLARSHIP

The following requirements are set forth by the Foundation and therefore, exceptions are not allowed:

  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA per semester
  • Enrollment in 12 or more hours for both Fall and Spring
  • Continuous enrollment in consecutive semesters
  • Submission of official transcripts at the end of each semester
  • Completion of less than 112 hours going into final year of eligibility

No student or prospective student will be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of financial aid
at Midland College on the basis of race, sex, age, national origin, disability or religion.
