Following the success of its 2024 First Class Free initiative, Midland College is expanding opportunities for GED graduates to pursue higher education. The College has launched a new program, Bridge to College Opportunity, to help remove financial barriers and encourage continued learning.

Midland College is proud to announce Isaac Fontenot-Amedee as the new head coach of the Chaparral men's basketball team. Fontenot-Amedee officially takes the helm after serving as interim head coach during the 2024-2025 season, leading the Chaps to an impressive 21-10 record and a trip to the NJCAA Region V Tournament. The team finished the season ranked No. 18 in the final NJCAA Division I national poll.

On Sunday, May 4, during Midland College's annual Honors Convocation at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center, Phillip Mancha was named the college's 2025 Chap Champion, an award that recognizes students who exemplify positivity, leadership, and encouragement both in and out of the classroom.

Williams is one of only two coaches nationwide chosen for this prestigious honor, which highlights his exceptional leadership and impact on collegiate golf over a 33-year -- and counting -- career.

Midland College held a special ceremony on Monday, April 28, to celebrate a generous $1.5 million gift from Diamondback Energy. This contribution will support the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Midland College. The collaboration between Midland College, Texas A&M University and Diamondback Energy aims to create an affordable and accessible route for future engineers, addressing a vital workforce need in Texas.

On Friday, April 25, Midland College announced the winners of the Dr. Stan Jacobs Teaching Excellence Awards. The Teaching Excellence Awards are a long-standing tradition at Midland College to recognize, celebrate, and honor the exceptional accomplishments of the MC faculty. They are made possible by an endowment given to the college by Dr. Stan Jacobs, a retired associate vice president of instruction.
